Jol is short for Jolly which is a long story of a family nickname for Oliver, and it rhymes with y’all.

I love hearing good jokes and telling bad ones. I enjoy pickin' on guitars, playing outside, and I've been drawing since I called it coloring. My early years were spent in Boston, but somehow I never developed the wicked cool accent. At 14, I shipped off to boarding school in New Jersey. After four years of avoiding expulsion, I headed farther south to college where I eventually earned a BFA in painting. This opened many doors into the wonderful world of construction in rural North Carolina as well as a slew of restaurant gigs. I was blessed with opportunities to "serve fries with that", pour concrete and operate heavy machinery. I even learned how to turn “this here pile o’dirt” into “that thar pile o’dirt”.

Luckily, a friend pointed me toward The Creative Circus where I discovered that one can actually get paid to wonder “what if” all day and dream up ideas that solve problems in evocative ways. Since then, I haven’t looked back, but have hit several bumps along the way and could have used that heavy machinery. Recently, I felt stuck because my book had not evolved properly, and I knew I was better than it showed. So, I threw it out and went back to school to start a new one.

To be fair, my opinion of this game is TBD.
